Privacy policy

Last updated: July 19, 2026

Burn ("we," "our," or "us") provides a personal finance application that helps you track spending, income, investments, and household finances. This policy describes how we handle information when you use our website and services.

Information we process

When you create an account, we process the information you provide (such as email and name) and data you enter in the product (for example transactions, budgets, and household settings). Our infrastructure providers may process technical data such as IP address and device information as needed to operate and secure the service.

How we use information

We use this information to provide the service, authenticate you, improve reliability and security, and communicate with you about your account. We do not sell your personal financial data. We do not use your data to show third-party advertisements in Burn.

AI features (Ask Burn & MCP)

If you use Ask Burn or connect an external AI client via MCP, you provide your own third-party AI provider API keys (e.g. Google Gemini, OpenAI). Those keys are encrypted at rest on our servers and are only used to route requests you initiate. Model inference is billed to your provider accounts, not to Burn. MCP access tokens grant read-only access to financial data for a specific household; treat them like passwords and revoke unused tokens in Settings → AI & MCP.

Security

We design Burn with security in mind, including access controls and encryption in transit. No method of storage or transmission is 100% secure; if you discover a vulnerability, please contact us responsibly using the email below.

Your choices

You may update profile information in the app where supported. You may request deletion or export of your data subject to legal and operational requirements by contacting us.

Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the revised policy on this page with an updated date.
